In this paper the author presents a complete description of the constitutional evolution of the right to social security. He reviews the different positions that the constitutional system has given to this right and the rol eit has given to the State and the individuals in its promotion, fi nancing, and control. He concludes hi sanalysis with the current state of the right to social security, Constitution of 1980, the subsidiary role that was assigned to the State, and the recent Pension Reform (Law number 20255)which introduced a greater space of solidarity to the individual capitalization system.
